The Brazilian cheeseburger with lettuce and tomato is a popular recipe that has been around since the first days of the burger in Brazil.
The name in Brazil is Cheese Salada, Salad Cheeseburger. The recipe is very simple:
A cheeseburger, made with a cheese that resembles “Munster”, and with lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise. The best diners arrange the ingredients in the order shown on the picture.
The mayo goes under everything to coat the bottom half of the bun and the melted cheese must touch the top half of the bread for the same reason and to prevent the sandwich from squirting the ingredients out when you bite it.

I can't recall the first time I tried a "Cheese Salada". Man, that was a long time ago, back in the late 60's in São Paulo City. I would be something around 8 or 9 years old and the burger had just been introduced there.
During the 70's the Brazilian burger fever spread all over the country and when the 90's hit the calendar American style and gourmet burger joints start to appear here and there.
Today, the whole country enjoys this all-American favourite, but this traditional first-years recipe still remains a must-eat.
