Harry Potter’s Dursley’s Home Artwork: 4 Privet Drive is Ordinary World, home of the protagonist in the plots of all Harry Potter Books.
After deciding to paint my preferred scenes from the Harry Potter saga, starting with the books’ protagonist family home seemed only logical.
I refrained from using the perfect movies’ set choice and attempted to go after J. K. Rowling’s original inspiration of a Bristol suburban area for this Dursley’s Home Artwork.
I also decided to portray a larger (on the outside) home since, I feel the Dursleys, as futile as they are, would choose such a home. The insides, however, I imagine, would be as claustrophobic as in the movies.
“Little Whinging is a fictitious town to the South of London. Number 4, Privet Drive, is the Dursleys’ home there.
Harry Potter has lived with the Dursleys since he was a baby after his parents died.
After he began attending Hogwarts, he spends just a little time there every year, during the summer holidays.
The Dursleys’ home is in a respectable and dull neighborhood where the neighbors ostracize Harry, who despises Little Whinging because of his memories of his cruel treatment there.
In The Order of the Phoenix, Dumbledore reveals that Harry must return there at least once a year for the protection Harry’s mother cast upon him. Harry could never be harmed as long as he lived in the care of his mother’s blood, Aunt Petunia. This charm would not break until Harry turned 17.”
