I happen to love creating closeups for little girl art prints. Children are so amazing. There is nothing like a child staring at something with a curious look.
As I walked on the blue postcard white snow, a sense of the slithering wind cracks my skin. Nothing can be heard miles away. No image can be focused through the falling snow flakes. Only the blowing sound that freezes my ears and the blurry abstract forest.
By the gelid lake around the large stone, I can see a purple and blue point.
As I approach with duckling steps, I realize that it is girl of pure white hair and blue sky eyes.
She gazes at me with amazed eyes just as if she had never seen a another man from my heritage.
We stay there for a while, looking at each other in a art picture pose.
After a while she gets up, approaches me and, smiling, gently kisses my hand.
I feel dizzy, my legs do not answer to my will. I kneel and lose my senses. No images in my head, no sound in my mind. Just darkness.
When I woke up. No snow, no ice, nobody… except the girl that from that moment on, never ever left my mind.
This portrait, “Amazed”, was created using a boys photo as inspiration and source for underpainting.
It was 99% hand painted in Photoshop and Corel Painter.
A few filters for color enhancement and modification helped fix lighting and mood before I started.
I also worked some blending and then repainted over.
The curious thing about it is that the more I painted, the more it was becoming a girls portrait.
At least, to me, the boy ended up looking like a girl.
