Old West Art Prints

Old west art prints help populate peoples imagination about the greatest American mythology.

Back in 1972 we had been to Berkeley visiting my mothers cousin, uncle Candido, and his family. An architect, he had been in that University for 2 years on a foreign student program for a Master’s degree in urban planning.

His family was coming back to Brazil.  We were planning to stay in Los Angeles for about 3 months.  My mom wanted to make contact with a famous psycho-therapist for her own psychology studies.

They decided that it was a perfect setting for a car trip from San Francisco to Los Angeles via the Grand Canyon, Arizona and Las Vegas. It was fantastic. On some sites, we could feel the presence of the Old West.

No other land has been so successful in the creation of a self image as it has happened with building of the American West myth.

The Old West saga of the American folklore is emphasized largely on the 19th century. Particularly orient  of the Mississippi River in the incursion tide of Europeans toward the Pacific side.

It commenced with English colonial accommodations in the early 17th century.  Admission of the last mainland territories as states in 1912 settled its end.

Old history of the frontier tells chronicles of the introduction and defense of small towns. Portray the usage of land, market developments and state formations.

Those are tales of conquest, survival and persistence. Thus, showing the process of merging worlds and cultures that gave birth to a new America.

A series of measures:

  • political compromise
  • treaties with foreign nations and native tribes
  • establishment of law and order
  • military conquest
  • building of farms, ranches, and towns
  • the marking of trails and digging of mines
  •  and the incursion of great foreign migratory groups

made the United States expand from coast to coast.

A process that transformed Europeans, and natives, into a new people.

Values emerged:

  • equality
  • democracy
  • optimism
  • individualism
  • self-reliance
  • violence to conquer natural rights

Enormous popular attention and dramatic exaggeration in the media focuses this  period sometimes called the Old West, or the Wild West.

I really enjoyed my time on your website today, your prints are just beautiful. Are you the artist of your prints, anyone would love to have those prints in their home to display to their family and friends I am sure.

How long have you been in business selling your prints, I have never been on a website like yours before today.

      Hello, Jeffrey,

Thank you for your kind words. Yes, I’m the artist behind the pictures. Sometimes, not the only one since some of the original photos on which mi work is mostly based are either from friends, family, etc.

I have been on the art business for about 10 years now, but only about 4 3 on the fine art prints sector.

      Cheers!

Caito, I love the bold colours and feel of Horse Riders. Looking at Capri 1, Black Beauty, Nature’s Path and Foliage Path in your gallery, I love the energy and movement you work with. I’m a fan.
By digital, do you mean completely digital? is any of the work in your pieces done with watercolours or acrylic? They have – at least on the computer screen – an extraordinary richness and texture, and a look and feel (see your portrait of Clint) of watercolour. Very cool.
Must have been a memorable trip from San Francisco to Los Angeles in 1972.
