When people visit West Virginia, it is hard to come back without any Shenandoah art prints – a beautiful region of the East Panhandle in the United States.
The hollow is tied to the east-side by the Blue Ridge Mountains, and the Ridge-and-Valley Appalachians to its east boundaries. The Potomac River is to the north and James River s on its Southern rim.
Containing a great number of important limestone caves, the area covers a larger portion including the Roanoke Valley and Virginia highlands and is considered a part of the Great Appalachians.
The term “Shenandoah” is of controversial, native origin, deriving from words of different meanings and is a matter of scholastic debate.
Some say it is from the Algonquian schind-han-do-wi, “spruce creek”, “large plains,” or “attractive stellar daughter”. It has become a popular given name by a namesake song.
Even though Shenandoah had great farmland, pioneer inceptions were retarded by the Blue Ridge Mountains.
First explorers were John Lederer and Batts and Fallamin ,1671, and Cadwallader Jones in 1682.
Franz Ludwig Michel in 1706 and Christoph von Graffenried in 1712 mapped the region.
The Shenandoah Valley is a natural , energetic and primal region with postcard scenery and superb activity choices. Its fertile fields and friendly people attract thousands of tourists every year.
While the valley is perfect for relaxing, active pursuits like cavern tours, festivals and a wide variety of outdoor activities are becoming more and more available and popular.
Ah, and don’t forget the vineyards. Virginia is now in the top five list of the best states with high-class wine production.
Shenandoah Art Prints are great for keeping travel fresh memories alive.
Many artists like CJunqueira have portrayed the wonders of Shenandoah in their artwork.
